Art Basel Miami Beach Dec. 5 - 8, Miami Beach Convention Center, Tickets vary

Leading international galleries show work from masters of Modern and contemporary art as well as pieces by newly emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are displayed in the main exhibition hall, while ambitious artworks and performances become part of the landscape at nearby beaches, Collins Park and SoundScape Park.Possibly the most most popular event each year in Miami, Art Basel sweeps international contemporary art into the Miami Beach Convention Center while the rest of the city and mainland erupts in satellite fairs and parties. Always a good time.

 

The Great Grove Bed Race Nov. 3, 1 p.m., Bayshore Drive, Free


Furthering the Grove's reputation as Miami's little pocket of weird is the annual Great Grove Bed Race, in which five-person teams push homemade cots, cribs, and cradles down the neighborhood's main drag. Come engage with an international crowd, register to race, sponsor or just save the date and show up. Last years 5th anniversary saw over 40 beds be laughed, danced and raced down Bayshore Drive in Coconut Grove. Racers will run all day raising money for Little  Smiles of South Florida
