Spice it up Miami

This 13th Miami Spice can't be missed, menus have two things in common: value and creativity. They offer interesting ingredients in combinations that make you eager to learn more and share them with friends. It is a steal!. The Miami Spice is also an opportunity to go on and take a walk through Miami and rediscover what the city has to offer in architecture.

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau is back with the oft-beloved, sometimes maligned dining deals that help fill restaurants during the slow summer months and give less well-to-do diners a way to eat in the city's most lavish spots at a fraction of the price.

You're looking for good range of selections at restaurants where a single course can run the same as an entire spice menu. The more the restaurant can stretch $23 at lunch and $39 at dinner, the more they deserve your attention and support.

The two-month Miami Spice promotion runs Aug. 1 through Sept. 30 at more than 160 Miami-Dade restaurants.

The idea: Give locals an incentive to check out area restaurants during the dog days of summer, when tourists are in short supply. ILoveMiamiSpice.com, the official website from the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, allows foodies to filter restaurants by location, cuisine and meals served. You'll find menus, phone numbers and links to OpenTable.com to make online reservations. About 170 restaurants are participating.
